Concert Review: April 17, 2000

If I ever doubted that Sense Field still "had it," last night's show made a
fool of me.
The guys were just incredible, playing the most intense and emotionally
charged show I have seen them do yet. The set ran a full 70 minutes from the
opening fill of Outlive The Man to the final encore of Shallow Grave. The
crowd was really into it, and the band just fed off that energy and gave back
even more for their performance. They were obviously having a great time, as
Jon made several comments like, "Shows like this are why we are still around."
As far as the songs they played, I was ecstatic to hear Trip Poem, and it was
very cool to hear more new ones like Save Yourself and Love Song. At the end
of the show I thought the roof was going to come down during Sage, as well as
several other times in the night where the crowd singing along was almost
louder than the PA.
In the end, Jon's sincerity in his gratitude toward the fans made it all the
more worthwhile. You could tell these were guys fed up with the corporate
side of things, frustrated with holding onto a record they can't release.
However, as Jon said, it's nights like last night that remind them why they're
doing what they do in the first place.
