Sense Field Review

Concert Review: April 21, 2000

by Jeff Ruscitti

I was in attendance at Sense Field's performance on April 21 at The Roxy in Boston. The band informed the crowd that they had just unloaded their equipment and hopped onto the stage. This was my second honor of watching Sense Field perform, and I must say that they did not disappoint. They played for approximately 40 minutes, (I am now extremely jealous, having read the review of their 70 minute set!) and played songs from each album. Due to time constraints, between-song conversation was minimal, which is unfortunate. When I saw Sense Field last September, I found the comments from all of the members extremely insightful and interesting. I also noticed that many people in the crowd were unfamiliar with the band. Unfortunate. However, that had no effect on my complete immersion in the music. Watching Sense Field perform is an amazing experience. I hope that the next time Sense Field performs in Boston they will not be performing first, and thus have more time to play. I certainly could listen to them perform for hours. While watching Sense Field, any worries that I had at the time were absolutely erased. I hope that anyone who reads this can relate, but hearing Sense Field brings me so much joy that I can't contain myself. They are truly phenomenal.

set list:

I remember the band opening with Outlive the Man, but the rest are in no particular order.

Overstand
Leia
Different Times
Voice
Nothing Between Us
War of the Worlds
Save Yourself (from new record)
Open Heart Surgery
What Difference Does it Make
Building

I absolutely enjoyed every minute, and am turning blue with anticipation for a (please!) summer tour.

I thank Sense Field for playing.
